The Lord is my shepherd , there is nothing I shall lack. The good Lord comforted Mariz and joyed her with so much company for her birthday! The California and Houston groups converged in Tyler to bring greetings to our indomitable spirit. Mariz truly enjoyed all the company with Clifford and family, Patrick and family and Janice and family bringing lechon from Houston. On Saturday she would be alert for 1 to 2 minutes maximum, conserving her energy but Sunday she entertained, albeit from a hospital bed, but she engaged her audience. There was not a hint of illness if there were no IV lines. Photo shoots with her red dress, singing balloons, party favors from our Disney artist Ricky sketching Ate's Tweety bird. So coincidental that this is how Dr Vukelja described Mariz's delicate condition like a Tweety bird fallen from the tree, vulnerable and fragile. But the same bird winds up entertaining everyone. The kind nurses Soanny and Courtney, now all accustomed to cackling and infectious laughter. This was truly the Lord's day. Mariz had a rest from procedures and had great company to enjoy it with. 2. Mariz is so grateful for a very special friendship with Eda. Her caring, her compassion and great zeal to help her in her disease; she donated all her hair for the cause and raised $3800. Go GI Jane!

  3. I am so blessed to know that Ate Mariz has a support and caring group of friends in the States. Upon knowing it, i am encouraged and comforted as well. Keep it up...Indeed this is the glorious gospel of Christ on the display. As the Lord is compassionate to us then we should also be compassionate to one another. Blessings.

  4. Dear Mariz,

I hope you can still remember me Armel, your cousin from Davao City. My daughter Diane(12) helped me to send this message to you thru the internet by using her Blogger account.

I have just learned yesterday about your condition through my sister Rissa who is based in New York. I would like you to know that the Militante Family here in Davao is praying for you.

I would like to share with you some latest updates in cancer from John Hopkins. As we all know, this institution is the leading center for cancer research in the United States and it is also known around the world.
This message was just sent to me by a cousin from Virginia. Although I am not an oncologist because my practice here in Davao City is in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology -subspecializing in ultrasonography, I personally believe in what this message is trying to say .
It is good that Ralph made this blogger so that we can keep in touch even if we are far away from each other.

I believe that it is only our loving God who knows up to when our lives will be here on earth. If He lets us go, then maybe it is already our time. But if we get some hints that it is not yet the time, then as good Christians, we have to do something.

Im so glad to know that during your birthday you have entertained and even brought laughter to the people around you, despite you condition. It is a very good sign!
Of course after reading this cancer update from John Hopkins, It would be nice for you to share this with your oncologist, just to get some opinions from her. And since you are now planning to go to a home care for palliative treatment, then might as well share this message also to the ones who are going to take care of you there, the nutritionists, the nurses, the family physicians, etc
I'm sure there are a lot of knowlegeable people in the family, in the church and in the community. It is nice to be open because it is the only way that other people will know that you need help. And you will be surprised, a lot of people are more than willing to help.

Belated Happy Birthday! I hope you can get something from this article
