The Obach family thanks all of you for your prayers and support. May the good Lord bless you and your family for your kind heart and giving souls. Mariz and family are currently at Rm 386 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler , TX. She was admitted 3/1/10 due to complications associated with advanced metastatic breast cancer with bone and liver metastases. She was found to have abdominal ascitis, L pleural effusion and severe hyponatremia from 2.5 weeks of interstitial edema. As of 3/2/10 her condition has improved greatly by the grace of God. She has received IV 3% Sodium fluids, drained 4.0 Liters of clear fluid from abdomen and allowed her legs to be back to her former volume under compression stockings. She has finally overcome the need for multiple needle sticks since her subclavian port was installed. She will have follow up Xrays and CT scans to hopefully clear her lungs of mets. The caring doctor Sasha Vukelja has a lot of promising ideas to help Mariz as soon as she is stabilized. She is visibly more comfortable, not as short of breath and better able to vocalize with a fuller tone. She is not in any severe pain except right after draining of ascitis due to distension and was relieved with low dose IV morphine. We hope to update this blog frequently so that everyone can get updated. Mariz welcomes all your calls and prayers and hopes that the conversations will omit details of her medical treatment and this blog may be able to conserve her energy. Thanks again and God Bless you all! Ralph Obach
