"My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my savior!" At about 1050 AM CST, Mariz peacefully surrendered to God's will, ending all worldly suffering. She simply stopped breathing as her time expired without pain or prolonged suffering. We are grateful for all your prayers and the high esteem you held Mariz and her family. She was very happy even in her passing because God's love was always more palpable and it gave her strength for the journey. Even her final expression transitioned from her mouth agape from agonal breathing to that of a smile, Jess and Lyca took pictures because there is not a single hint of distress, no wrinkle on her face and a visible smile of her left cheek. Mariz had a remarkable life. It is not measured by worldly possessions but by the friendships she built and the love she shared. She would be the first to admit some character flaws but you would have a hard time looking for a person who did not like her. Her personality was just infectious, her laughter unforgettable. Lyca and Blair , the hospice child life specialist made hand prints of Mariz for keepsake. Several friends and family were able to say goodbye over the phone and personally. We are currently awaiting for the family's request for the preparations for memorial service. Mariz has expressed her wishes to Jess to be cremated and have her Christian memorial in the Philippines, burial in Iligan by her mother. We are awaiting for final requests that may require them to reconsider the cremation if it helps some members of family and friends to have closure. Let the Lord's peace be with you all. Ralph

  2. Hi bro Jess and Lyca. Indeed our confidence is this, that "in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord" Romans 8:37-38.

  3. I have long wanted to call Mariz & talk to her I tried yesterday but couldn't get through...then received a text message today saying that she has joined HIM. I feel sad but also relieved to have spent some time with her last July. Surely that moment will always be remembered as long as I live. I love you Mariz...you were my childhood friend, a sis I never had & a loving cousin. RIP

Pete, I'm deeply saddened to learn that Mariz passed away today. My only consolation is I know at last she's not suffering anymore. My prayers are with you and the rest of the family especially during these trying times. Be comforted by the certainty that Mariz is finally in the loving embrace of our risen Lord. Hang in there cuz... Missing and loving you always.

Pete, our whole family would like to extend our condolences to the Obach clan for the loss of our dear Mariz who had been such a great friend to my sister and whom i had the privilege of knowing. May you all find comfort in the thought that she is now in the loving arms of her creator, free from all the worries of this world, free from all the physical pains her illness brought her. She was such a courageous young lady with a smile that was really infectious and heart warming at the same time. She will be terribly missed. I have been calling Rocel every now and then, she misses her too much and naiiyak pag nagkukuwento about their escapades before. Such a long and beautiful friendship kasi. Old friends are the "dearest..."
Miss you my friend. A tight embrace to you. loveyoubay!
